This week on the LAMBScores we catch up with 2012’s big Christmas Day releases Django Unchained and Les Miserables. On the surface, these films seem completely different, but they have more in common than you think. Specifically, both films are set in the 1800s and are focused on a former slave who becomes empowered. Find out below what the LAMB members thought of these two Oscar nominees. DU just opened in Europe yesterday. Surely a bit of lee-way could have been given for such a big movie?
It was previously decided that LAMBScores should be posted sooner rather than later(the window used to be 4 weeks after release, now it’s 3). I’m just following that directive.
I understand your concern, but there will always be issues with release dates and it will be hard to accommodate everyone.
I attend early press screenings (saw DU back in early December) so it usually doesn’t affect me but I suspect a lot of people will be miffed at missing this one. Maybe two editions of Lambscores are needed, a North American and International one.
There are of course a lot of movies which open earlier in Europe. I’ve posted new lambscores threads only for someone to start one for the same movie six months later, meaning my old thread gets left behind.
Forgot to vote, but I would definitely give it 4.5 lambs!
