Hi everyone. I’m Robert from Sketchy Details and I’ll be taking over Foreign Chops. I want to thank Steve from 1001plus for starting this great feature and running it so well.
The first topic of the new year is the cinema of Quebec. The Oscar nominations came out last week and Canada is once again in the running for Best Foreign Language Film with War Witch. In the past eight years, Canada has made the short list...
January continues to be the dumping ground for weak films, but thankfully there are still some holdovers from Oscar season to keep us happy. This week we have scores for A Haunted House and Gangster Squad, but the big one is Kathryn Bigelow’s controversial film Zero Dark Thirty. Find out what the LAMB members thought of...
We all have milestones we achieve with our blogs. It may be getting our 100th follower or our first comment. It may be finishing a project or a site redesign. Sometimes, it’s even writing that first post ever, or saying goodbye to the site we’ve built over the years.
On today’s episode of The Film Pasture, we talk to a couple of bloggers about milestones they’ve recently hit. First, we’ll talk with...
Another year, another 2,000 sequels, reboots and remakes await moviegoers worldwide. From Man of Steel to the delayed Great Gatsby to the delayed G.I. Joe sequel and everything in between.
Nick hosts this ep, and was joined by Joel, Jess, Kristen and first-timer Shane as they rattled off their respective most anticipated films for the coming year. Think you can guess which films each participant is most...
This special episode focuses on the just-finished 2003 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. With over 40,000 attendees, you know there was bound to be at least a few LAMBs there. We talk to Shala Thomas from Life Between Films about her Sundance experiences: how she approaches the fest, where to go and (of course) what her favorite films were.
I hope to do more mini-episodes like this so if you have a film festival or another...

In this edition of the LAMBScores we have 4 new releases for you – The Impossible, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Promised Land and Not Fade Away. It seemed to be a slow week, with only The Impossible seeming to spark much interest among the LAMB members. Find out what your fellow lammies thought of Juan Antonio Bayona’s heartwrenching film, in addition to the other...
Strap yourselves in.
Lindsay, Jessica, Nick, Justin, and Dylan gathered round the campfire to rattle off their Top 5 films of 2012, and it’s an epic. As if that weren’t enough, we even threw in some special awards for key films/scenes/actors/etc. It’s a fun show that covers a surprisingly wide array of films…made even wider with Nick’s compulsion to name every honorable mention in his list of 400 films...
It started off as a tight race between all five films, but it didn’t take long for two to break from the pack. In the end, the pick from Brian Roan of Dear Film, 1961’s Last Year at Marienbad, took home the prize (see poll results below). As such, Brian becomes the latest Champion and has won a chair in the LAMBcast in which we’ll discuss the film, and the hosting rights to the MOTM segment (more...
It’s that time again…the 6th Annual LIONs for LAMBs Awards! These are our version of the Academy Awards where LAMB members give their say on the best and worst films of 2012, including all the extras like actor, actress, director among others. As was the case last year, we have 10 categories for you to vote on.
Please rank your lists 1 to 10 for Best Films and 1 to 5 for everything else, as the winners will be based...
Editor’s note: This is part of a 32-part series dissecting the 85th Academy Awards, brought to you by the Large Association of Movie Blogs and its assorted members. Every day leading up to the Oscars, a new post written by a different LAMB will be published, each covering a different category of the Oscars. To read the other posts regarding this event, please click here. Thank you, and enjoy!
