LAMB #127 – Dear Jesus

Site Name: Dear Jesus

Categories: Humor, Reviews, Editorials, Lists, Horror

Rating: R

What is the main focus of your site (reviews, editorials, news, lists, etc.)?
Whitney: Dear Jesus started out as a couple of agnostics trying to figure out religious questions, but we quickly found out that the only God we really wanted to figure out was movies. I like movies.

Brian: I have always wanted our blog to have no focus or direction. The unintentional focus has been how I stopped believing in god and started believing in movies.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
Whitney: I love movies and all that, but I also really like attention. I like when people comment and say things like “Oh, Whitney, you’re so funny!” I blog for the potential compliments.

Brian: Mostly I write about movies so I can remember them. The movies I’m too lazy to write about either get confused with all the other movies I’ve seen or are totally forgotten. I also would like readers to hopefully watch the movies I write about so they can tell me how wrong my interpretation is.

Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
Brian: I prefer an interactive community. I would never consider myself a teacher since I’m just making everything up anyway.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Whitney: Dear Jesus has been around since Jan. 2007, but we have both been blogging for a long time. I’m getting my MA in film so I’m used to writing a lot. I update about a twice week, usually

Brian: A year and a half ago our site started as a blog to work out our religious crisis, then, about a year ago, magically turned into a blog about movies. I try to post something new like once a week. Whitney writes way more than me.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Whitney: Badlands (Malick), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Stuart), Time Bandits (Gilliam)

Brian: Sunset Boulevard, All About Eve, Chameleon Street

How did you hear about the LAMB?
My boyfriend and blogging support group Scott ( told me about it.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
If you come read our blog we’ll like, like like you.
Directors don’t get enough credit these days, I think we need to point out the good looking ones too. So which director is the hunkiest?

Whitney: Jane Campion. She’s totally hawt in an outback kind of way.

Brian: Nicholas Ray. I mean, he has an eye patch.
