LAMB #140 – What I Watched Last Night

by Dylan · July 22, 2008 · New LAMB · 2 Comments

Site Name: What I Watched Last Night

Categories: Reviews (99% of the time)

Rating: PG-13, a cuss word now and then, sometimes I’ll post a bloody YouTube clip, but nothing too bad.

What is the main focus of your site (reviews, editorials, news, lists, etc.)?
Reviews of every movie I see, so they cover the gambit from obscure foreign films to family films with my son. My focus is probably going to slightly change, I’m about 50 films behind in my reviews, so instead of writing full reviews for all films I see, I’ll probably start focusing more on the lesser known films. The world doesn’t need another opinion of Iron Man, but if I can help get the word out on a good flick that not many folks have seen, I’d like to help people find those films. But still do mini-reviews of everything, just to keep a record.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
Mostly I started it for myself, so I could keep track of all the movies I watch, and what I thought about it at that moment in time. But I’d also like to think that I can help people discover films they may not on their own. And just maybe help promote my own filmmaking in the process.

Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I’m mostly a “teacher”, but I’m happy to interact on the rare occasions people reach out. I do tend to post comments on other blogs though, I try to connect that way.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Been blogging for almost a year, but I’ve been writing online movie reviews and building my own websites for about 8. Post about 5 times a week, depends on how busy I am, I’ll often post 4 reviews in one day, then skip the next three.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Very tough decision, if I can only name three: The Matrix, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Saw a link on a blog I read:

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
I’m totally dedicated to writing about movies for the rest of my life, it’s pretty much the only thing I consider myself worthy of writing about.
