What is the main focus of your site?
Primarily it is a film review blog. Occasionally I write about an aspect of the industry that I feel would be of interest to readers, and sometimes I write about something non-film related, be it politics or sport or anything else that I feel I can provide something worth reading about.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
Personally, I love movies, and love discussing movies with others. My love of movies is matched by my love of writing, so the web-site is the perfect marriage of my interests. My long-term goal is to be a film critic, and while I’m young I’m maintaining the site partially to gain experience in the upkeep of a site while also sharpening my writing/reviewing abilities.
Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I like to think that I bring a knowledgability about films that most readers wouldn’t have. I’ve studied film at university and in my personal life for five or six years, and have seen several thousand films and have a firm opinion on all of them. I like to think that my reviews force my readers to think a little more critically about what they see at the cinemas, while also not forgetting to keep an enthusiasm for films that will prevent them from becoming cynical. I do like it, however, when people comment on my reviews and offer their own opinions on movies, and begin a conversation. So I suppose I like to facilitate an interactive community while also enlightening my readers.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I’ve been blogging for a year, and update my site between three and five times a week.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
The Third Man, Citizen Kane, Goodfellas.
How did you hear about the LAMB?
I noticed a stamp on one of my colleagues’ websites (Jen Review Movies) and it piqued my interest.
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
