What is the main focus of your site?
To provide in-depth and considered reviews of films that don’t generally tend to receive such attention. The serious discussion of horror films, independent films, straight to DVD films and cult films. While the tone is hopefully light and slightly humorous, I hope that the reviews will prove thought-provoking and insightful and maybe even generate some discussion revolving around the appreciation of such films. The more of these films I can watch with Vincent Price in them, the better.Over the course of time, I hope to include more interviews with directors, actors, producers etc of independent horror films and hopefully shed more light on the industry.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
My initial intention for the blog was to create a showcase for writing and reviews of films – just a place where I can return to in order to reflect and write and share ideas and hopefully in doing so, become a more disciplined writer. I plan to write reviews of the films I watch from now on – that way I can keep myself busy, build up a nice body of written work and continue watching films and discuss them at length afterwards. It’s a somewhat cheaper alternative to post-cinema pub discussions…
Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I hope that the blog will eventually become akin to a little interactive community, bringing together people with shared interests and generating discussions. At the moment it is just reviews and occasional interviews with various people involved in the production of independent horror films. People can leave comments and stuff if they feel so inclined – I guess that’s as interactive as it gets at the moment – hopefully the blog will become more interactive in the future, with discussions, debates and tie-ins with other blogs.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
My blog is still quite young, I set it up late 2008, but I do try to update it on a fairly regular basis. I’m not too stringent about this, but at the moment it would appear I update it several times a week. There have been little pockets of time when I’ve been able to update it on a daily basis. This has been really enjoyable.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
The Shining, I Walked With A Zombie and Lost Highway. That can’t be right. None of these have Vincent Price in them.
How did you hear about the LAMB?
Looking through various blogs I hold in pretty high regard such as Paracinema… The Blog and Final Girl, I couldn’t help but notice the LAMB logo and curiosity got the better of me… I liked what I saw.
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
Q. Name up to three of your favorite Vincent Price movies (and no more).
A. Ahhh, that’s a tough one. Hmmm. The Last Man on Earth, The Pit and the Pendulum, Witchfinder General. No, wait! Erm. Arghh!
