I’ll begin announcing the 2011 LAMMY Winners tomorrow, but first as part of the LAMMY ceremonies, it’s only fitting that we take a moment to celebrate the LAMBs that have fallen over the years. Dead LAMBs are sites that a.) no longer have a functioning URL b.) have not posted in over a year or c.) the last post was an official so-long-and-thanks-for-all-the-fish sign off.

Feel free to share your stories of these sites, fond memories, or funny anecdotes in the comments section. If your site is listed, and you know it’s not dead, please email me asap. Accidents do happen.

Without further ado, a moment of silence, please:

  1. RIP to all lambs. I’m especially sad that number 2 isn’t around anymore. But I think its the right way to go.

Do we have a summer barbecue on the remains now? =)

  2. Joel-If we barbeque the remains, wouldn’t that be a bit cannibalistic of us?

Toby-I doubt it’s that stressful, but a lot of folks fail to actually commit to it and eventually just quit.

Alex-We actually had two separate sites with the name “Not Just Movies”. Jake’s site is the surviving one.

  3. Bonjour – Ahaha…that’s such a perfect song for this, but I can’t help but sing to myself a little Boyz II Men ditty:

“It’s so haaaaaaaard to say goodbyyyyyyyye to yesterdaaaaaayyyyyyeeeee…”

So many great sites on here. It’s painful to watch them roll by. And the number of dead LAMBs is somewhat staggering. If it weren’t an administrative nightmare, I’d suggest that we re-number everyone. Turns out numbering might have been a bad idea from the start…oh well, hindsight and all that.

  4. Out of almost 1000 members, we have 130-ish dead sites. I really don’t think that’s too terrible. It is difficult seeing the early ones roll by, but I’m more shocked by the ones that have joined just within the last year or less already giving up.

I would renumber the current sites if I wasn’t afraid someone would come back in 6 months and say I made some grave error in their dead status. Also now that I’m including sites that have just been inactive for a year, someone could always be resurrected if they started blogging again, as unlikely as that is.

    1. I’ve told you before that I need our member sites to have transaltion widget that works. Even if it worked on your site I’d still need you to re-submit since you both switched name and url of the blog. You could still have your LAMB number but I need a new application.

If you are serious with being on the LAMB make sure to fix your translation widget and send me another application.
