What is the main focus of your site?
The main focus of my site is to review films in-depth in three different areas: documentaries, personal blind spots (usually classic films), and movies from childhood. I also have a once-a-month feature that spotlights different character actors.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
My personal goal for the blog is to use it as a way to continue developing my critical voice, and also to expand my knowledge (and, by extension, my readers’ knowledge) of film.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
So far the conversation on my blog has been pretty one-way. However, I’d really like for it to be more interactive. I’m hoping being part of a community like LAMB will increase that possibility.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
The site has been active in various forms since 2009, but has been in its current format since fall 2011. I post once a week.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more):
The Third Man, Layer Cake, The Royal Tenenbaums
How did you hear about the LAMB?
I heard about the LAMB pretty much through searching for various film blogging communities. Upon doing some research, the LAMB seems like a very active, vibrant community with some really thoughtful members who know their stuff. I’d love the chance to contribute to the community here, as well as learn from other bloggers.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
In addition to my blog, I also contribute freelance to another movie review site, scene-stealers.com, and to Kansas Public Radio in Lawrence, Kansas, where I live.

  1. I really like the title of this blog, with the idea of expanding your film horizons. Looks like we have another potential contributor when it comes time to start the Doc Chops feature!
