This week we have something different for you, not one, not two, but three features in the horror genre. Some of us just can’t wait for Halloween.

We get a film that finishes off a franchise, if you believe that. A Steven King Novel brought to the screen by Hunger Games Veteran Francis Lawrence, and a Jordan Peele produced film featuring a social critique of football (and satanists). “Spoiler Alert” one of these films got enthusiastic recommendations and one got emphatic rejection

Horror mavens Lisa Leaheey, from the Rabbit Hole Podcast Group and Damien Riley, from “Riley on Film”, dig deep into their reactions and they are not afraid, at least not afraid to tell you what they thought of these three films. There was a surprising consensus on the show in regard to the movies, and that may reinforce your decisions about what to see.

It has been a grab bag of quality from films in this universe, but the one’s that have the “Conjuring” name and Ed and Lorraine Warren, have been the most consistent. Can they reach that goal with what is supposedly the last instalment?

Stephen King is usually associated with horror stories, but this one falls more into the dystopia that he also likes to travel in. There is nothing supernatural going on here, just a nightmare scenario of a paranoid author, well executed and acted. There is not a lot of action but there is scenery.

In spite of the advertising, this is not Jordan Peele’s film, he is simply one of the executive producers and not a screenwriter or director for the movie. This football centered horror story unified all the LAMBs on the show, better than a sheepdog in a competition could. That may get it some kind of prize.
