Hello Lammies.

It’s been a long, long, long time, but I wanted to welcome you all back to the Trailer Trash section of The Lamb.   This is the page where we will be looking at  trailers for some upcoming movies on their way to theatres near you.   This article may post two times a week on both Tuesdays and Thursdays or it may just post once a week.  But you will get your fill of movie trailer talk I assure you.  Each post will have at least four titles.  Two wide release ones and two independent ones

If you have any suggestions for trailers that should be featured, please leave comments below.

Click on each title to see the full trailer.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

From director Timur Bekmambetov( “Wanted“, “Night Watch“)   comes the film adaptation of the parody book written by Seth Grahame Smith.  Well it wasn’t an original idea by him.  He just took a book that was already published and added a few things to it.  The same thing was done with “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies“.  Just take the Jane Austin novel and add zombie attacks to the story.  That book became successful and the movie adaptation is in the works.  In this tale Abraham Lincoln(Benjamin Walker) must defend his country not just from the south, but from hordes of undead blood suckers too.

I hate to say it, but this looks like a really standard action move that takes it’s premise more seriously than needed.  The very idea of a vampire killing president is very campy and I wish they would play off of that more.

The Hunger Games.

Jennifer Lawrence volunteers  to be part of a competition known as The Hunger Games.  One boy and one girl are selected by lottery from each district to compete in these games that are televised for millions.  The outcome is that there can only be one survivor .

This is the closest thing to a “Battle Royale” remake America will ever tackle.  While I agree that both stories are very different from each other.  You can’t deny they both share the same premise.  I think Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress, and this could be good.  I’m just afraid they won’t go as dark as the trailer suggests.  After all the movie is being directed by Gary Ross who also made the heartwarming flicks “Pleasantville” and “Seabiscuit

The Raid: Redemption.

Your…..going…..to….have….to give….me …….a….few…..moments…..while I catch my breath, because that was the most intense action trailer, I have seen in a long time.  This is the type of movie real action fans have been screaming  for.  The premise is very simple,Twenty cops  must take control of a building and it’s ruthless gang lord.  The less complex the story line is means that there will be a lot more hand to hand combat, gun fights and sword play.  I’m loving this.

Remember the last twenty minutes of “Hard Boiled” when the cops invaded a hospital to find a criminal’s hideout.  That was quite an amazing sequence and one of the best moments ever put on film  “The Raid: Redemption”  takes that basic concept  and times it by a thousand.  I have never heard of Gareth Evans before, but I will keep watch of his career after this flick.

The Moth Diaries

Mary Harron (“American Psycho“)  returns to horror.  At least teenage theme horror with her adaptation of  Rachel Kline’s novel “Moth Diaries“.  The story is set at an all girl school where one of it’s students befriends the one goth chick who turns out to be an actual vampire.

If Mary Harron’s name was not attached to this.  I wouldn’t see it.     This looks like something I would see on the CW, not in theatres.  The poster does look cool and unlike a certain franchise about people who sparkle that I will not name.  This one is legit in calling it a vampire story.  I hope we get more of these legit films in the future.

Thanks for reading.
