Thanks for a great participation level in this final round! We have broken the all time high voting participation in the final by getting 88 votes in. The highest we have gone before is 82.

Still amazed that the nomination round manages to get more votes in than the final round… Well now you can sit back relax and wait for the announcement winner posts that will start appearing here twice a day starting on monday!

  1. Hm… Well I think the level of enthusiasm you feel about the finals has to do with how much you care about the nominees. If your blog has been nominated for something or if several of your candidates were chosen, you’re likely to vote. But if you weren’t nominated for anything and none of your suggestions went to the finals, I can figure that you don’t care all that much about the final poll. It has to do with how much you care about the finalists.

Like other people have pointed out, I really think it would be great if it was possible to send all LAMB members an email as a reminder about the LAMMY arrangement. With such a huge number of members, I wouldn’t count on that everyone is aware of what’s been going on.

  2. Yeah, I’m with Jessica. 80+ Lambs voting is commendable, so too is getting the number higher than it’s ever been…but it’s still down around 10% of the active community.

Spurring a higher voter turnout would be worth the effort.

    1. I think you are overestimating the LAMB community if you think that 800 lambs are being active ones… I don’t think we even have 800 active member blogs right now (that is something I gonna investigate under the following year).

However, I’m always up for suggestions on how to get people to be more active within the LAMB.

  3. Can’t wait!

And I wholeheartedly endorse the idea of getting a LAMB email list together. I think it will help in getting people to vote.

  4. Congratulations Joel on leading us to the highest turnout in Lammy history

I think that 90 is pretty impressive, especially when we consider how many people sign up for other events, participate in the forums, polls, etc. We have to remember that eligible participants and active participants are sometimes two different things.

    1. Thanks David. 90 (88 eligible votes actually, I need to update that post) is ok. However I do thrive for more and would like us to land around 150 in both rounds next year.

  5. Tonight’s the night, tonight’s the night, tonight’s the night. Well actually tomorrow will be the day that some of the winners get posted, but damn am I excited.
