Awhile back, there was a feature here on the LAMB called Blog Invasions or something along those lines. The idea behind it was a particular blog was selected, and as many members possible would literally invade the site, commenting, following, tweeting, sharing, and liking everything. Of course, none of this blindly just because, but really taking the time to check the site out and get very involved. It’s kind of a way for the community to give back to itself and show that once you’re a member of the LAMB, you’re not just swept under the rug to join the masses. Well, I have decided to “reboot” the Blog Invasions feature, but giving it a new title- Invasion of the LAMBs. This is a feature I plan on running every 2-3 weeks or so, allowing enough time for all of us to leave our marks on the particular “invadee”. To add to this element, I wanted to keep it as random as possible, so that when an Invasion happens, the blog owners will be pleasantly surprised. In the forums I discussed possibly voting on who should be invaded, but as the poll turned more into a popularity contest, I have decided to make the decision, in private, with a few people’s suggestions in mind. Don’t think this will be the case for the feature from here on out, as I am completely open to suggestions and nominations. Just leave a comment and I will get in touch with you. As for our first invasion, take a peek after the break.
As you can see, Two Dude Review is up first for Invasion of the LAMBs. While I previously mentioned that the feature would be random and thus, a great surprise, Two Dude Review was actually aware of the fact it was nominated earlier on. In the nomination phase, I asked Joe of Two Dude Review a series of questions.
Between comments, views, and feedback, which do you want more? Why?
If I had to pick one out of the three, I guess I’d want comments (which technically could constitute as feedback as well).
If there was one thing on your site you could change what would it be? Why?
I just recently (less than a month ago) became one dude running two dude. The other “dude” wasn’t contributing anything whatsoever, and the original domain (twodudereview.com) expired without my knowledge. I didn’t have the $200 to redeem the site, so instead I purchased the .net version of the site. I’ve put far too much time and care into what I’ve been doing for it just to go away so easily. I love the movies, and more than anything I enjoy having my own forum in which I get to review, rant or whatever about whatever I like that’s related to films.
Is there anything particular you need help with you your site? Be it design, formatting, logo, etc.
I like the logo, but I don’t think it’s all that original. I wouldn’t be opposed to something different, but I like the color scheme I’ve got going. I’d like to have a better heading on the site, because the template that was used has pictures of movies some people may not know. I’ve got no experience with coding or really anything computer related, but I’m learning on the fly. I’ve reached out to a couple of people to see if they’d be interested in doing it for me, and at least one has said he’d like to.
Are you looking for contributors, if so, for what?
I’m not really looking for contributors at this time, although I do have a few. I
have a friend and relative who have reviewed a few films, and recently I became acquaintances with someone who write a Box Office Prediction column that I had been comparing my own predictions to. He and I have started up a sort of partnership in which he posts my reviews on his site, and I post his Box Office Prediction column on my site.
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for approximately 13 months.
What is your ultimate goal for your blog?
I’d like to build up a community and have conversations/discussions with as many people who agree or disagree with what I have to say. I’d be lying if I didn’t hope to one day to be able to monetize the site, but that’s become
more of a long term goal. My short term goal is to improve my writing, continue to review movies, give my box office predictions and DVD/Blu-ray recommendations, and be open to any and all criticisms.
Finally, do you have a message you’d like to send to your readers, followers, and friends?
I’m no Siskel, and I’m no Ebert. I’m just your average Joe giving his opinion on films, trailers and the box office. Blogging about movies is just like a marriage; we’ll agree and we’ll disagree, but the communication and conversation is what keeps it all interesting and fun.
So there you have it. Two Dude Review shall be the first invaded blog. Head on over, check out the site, leave comments, leave support, and follow it. And who knows, maybe your blog will be next up for Invasion of the LAMBs!
