What is the main focus of your site? | Featured movies often come from the silent and classic film eras, but that does not mean I’ll completely ignore contemporary films. I discuss those that draw my attention. They don’t necessarily have to be recent releases or restorations. I tend to discuss movies I’ve watched at home or seen in theatres, including revival houses. |
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog? | My goals are to discuss the medium and to connect with others. I’m a transplant to the area I live in, and my day job involves travel, so building a local and/or virtual community is important to me. If anything more comes from the blog, like writing offers, fantastic! If not, it’s time well spent. I love writing and watching movies, so my blog is a good excuse to do both! |
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students? | I would prefer an interactive community. I am not closed to learning about the medium from others, and again I am looking to make friends through this blog. |
How long has this site been active for, and how frequently do you post updates to your site? (Note: sites must be active for at least three months for entry to the LAMB.) | I launched my blog in December of 2008. It started off hosted for free by WordPress, but I switched to self hosting in May of 2012. That’s when I decided to become more invested in blogging. |
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more). | Les Vampires (1916) All About Eve (1950) Leave Her to Heaven (1945) |
Name a movie you hate!! | The Eddie Cantor Story (1953) |
How did hear about the LAMB? If it was a LAMB, do you recall which one? | As I’ve been exploring the online film blogging community, especially in the classic and silent spheres, I’ve noticed some of my favorite blogs are members of LAMB, like the Louise Brooks Society blog. |
Other question | I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I’m very excited by all of its movie-going opportunities. I’m a regular attendee of the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, and I frequent screenings at the Stanford Theatre, the Berkeley PFA, and some of the more commercial theatres. |
