My apologies to Jessica, Tom, Steve, and Nick – they’ve probably almost forgotten that we even recorded this episode, it feels so long since we did it (if some of the Rants or Raves seem a bit outdated, now you know why). Anyway, our feature discussion is one that can’t grow moldy, as we each took a look back at a recent viewing that we wished to discuss. On top of that, we present you with one of the lengthier and more...
We had another tight, tight race for the next Movie of the Month film. In the end, we set a new record high for votes, shattering the old record of 204 by a whopping 90 votes. Of course, Joel and I have become aware of a glitch with the Vizu poll site that allows for multiple votes by certain browsers or something, so as much as we like the high vote total, I won’t be using the site again for these purposes. Still, we...
Time for me to eat crow. From the onset, I wasn’t such a big fan of Inglourious Basterds as a choice for the Movie of the Month – it seeming to be a too recent and too popular film for my particular MOTM tastes. In the end, the die-hard battle between it and Citizen Kane had me more than supporting it as the eventual choice, and I couldn’t have been more wrong about my preconceptions of it being chosen. ...
Do you have what it takes to be a Movie of the Month Champion?
Actually, that was somewhat rhetorical, as it doesn’t really take all that much. Anyway, the call is officially out for those interested in championing a film for the next MOTM/LAMBcast.
Here are the finer details:
* If your championed film wins, you get to not only appear on that month’s LAMBcast, but to ‘host’ the MOTM segment...
Obviously, The Hunger Games needs way more catchphrases, because I’d like to start off this little summary with one of them, but there’s really only one, and it’s way overused as it is. So I suppose I’ll just say, “I volunteer as, uh, host of the LAMBcast!”
Anyway, I was joined by Nick, Rachel and Dan as we dissected the blockbuster literary adaptation, from the casting to the...
The title more or less says it all for episode 109, doesn’t it. Be they uncomfortable to sit through (by yourself or with others) or embarassing – whatever the reason, the films that make up the lists we came up with share the titular common trait. Thanks to Courtney of Big Thoughts From a Small Mind for the topic idea. Sharing their lists were Dylan, Nick, Brian, Stevee and James.
Also on tap:
* Rants of the...
It was a hotly, hotly contested battle, but in the end, there could be only one. And that one is Inglourious Basterds. French Toast Sunday’s MOTM choice took out all comers – including the behemoth that is Citizen Kane – and won the poll with 39% of the 118 votes cast. Thanks to all that Championed a film and to those that voted, and congrats to FTS!
Here’s what goes down from...
Once again, our Movie of the Month pick comes from the early 80s – specifically 1982, as discussed on the accompanying LAMBcast, a a banner year for sci-fi films the likes of which we probably won’t see again. The choice this time out is Blade Runner, the Ridley Scott-directed, Harrison Ford-starring ensemble piece that delves into some of man’s largest questions: What does it mean to be human? To...

For the 107th episode, we take a step in a new direction and open up a new recurring series for the show, in which we take a look at a popular series from film history. Over at the LAMB Forums, the participants in the show voted from a number of franchises and the winner was the Alien series. On hand for the show was host Dylan as well as Nick, Tom, Fogs and newcomer Mark of Green People Soup.
To commemorate this somewhat...
It was a conglomeration of shepherds (and other LAMB luminaries) as the latest LAMBcast found not only host Dylan (founder, former shepherd) but also recently resigned shepherd Rachel and the new boss man Joel on board, as well as Nick and James. This week, we each rolled our own Top 5s in a wide range of topics, from monkeys to wanted sequels to hidden gems to dystopian films, with a bunch of boobs and penises in between.
Also on...
Yep, that’s right.
We’re starting what may turn into a running series on the LAMBcast, where we occasionally take a look back at a selected franchise of films. Consider this some sort of not-voted-upon addendum to the MOTM. Anyway, our first episode is set to be recorded this weekend. Along with this, Shep. Burman and I thought it would be fun/meaningful to include a one-off “Chops” to go along with...
