We are starting the new year soon, and that means we need a new Movie of the Month for January. The choices are wide open and you can certainly find something you would like to talk about.
Howard Casner of “Pop Art” has submitted “The American Astronaut” from 2001 for what may be the third time. Persistence pays off if you want it to.
Dave Anderson of “Free Kittens Movie Guide” thinks...
Continuing our long line of left handed Christmas Selections for MOTM in December, this year we have a James Bond film, set in the alps, with lots of snow and Christmas in the background. James Wilson of “Blogging by Cinema Light” saw a Christmas tree and decided that was enough to justify adding it to the list, and you the LAMB community agreed wholeheartedly.
Of course it doesn’t take much to persuade...
Over the years there have been multiple attempts to get this film covered on the LAMBcast. This week, Todd Liebenow, of the Forgotten Filmcast succeeds as the champion of the film for the November MOTM episode.
This episode is jam packed with stories about the original animated series, the release history of this movie, and a whole lotta music talk. We have “Three Small Words” for you, Download the...
A close vote determined the MOTM this October, but the last minute submission by Matthew Simpson of the “Awesome Friday Podcast” won out. Matthew selected Sam Rami’s 2009, PG-13 horror film, “Drag Me to Hell” and it goes to show that a PG-13 rating does not have to indicate a bad horror movie. On the contrary, this film manages to scare the audience and make us laugh at the same time.
Christine...
There is a short window for the MOTM poll this October, in part because we are doing a Horror draft the next week and we want to get those episodes in before the actual day of Halloween. As usual, the October MOTM is Horror related and we have quite a slate of films for you to choose from.
Matthew Simpson from the “Awesome Friday Podcast” has submitted the Sam Rami curse film from 2009, “Drag Me to...
A limited selection of MOTM suggestions resulted in an executive decision to go with three time runner up, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” as the September MOTM. No one was happier than the film’s frequent champion, James Wilson of “Blogging by Cinema Light”. James was chomping at the bit to discuss this classic film from 1939.
The year 1939 in film is widely considered the greatest year in film history....
Paul Newman and Steve McQueen head an all star cast in the granddaddy of all disaster films, “The Towering Inferno”. If this looks familiar to you, then you are a longtime LAMB, because we did cover it as a MOTM back in 2016. That episode is currently lost, so this is a chance to restore the film to it’s rightful place on the LAMB wall of fame.
The world’s tallest building is being dedicated with a party on...
There was a short voting window, but we did get a pretty good turnout. Once again, the outcome was close, with the top two vote getters being separated by a miniscule number of ballots cast. Congratulations go to Dave Anderson of “Free Kittens Movie Guide”, for championing the 1974 disaster film “The Towering Inferno” to the winners circle.
Dave will get to host the upcoming discussion of the film on...
A late start on this poll but the MOTM show is the last Sunday of the month, so we should have time to get plenty of voting in.
Jeanette Ward had a vision several months ago and she is now suggesting the 1986 Thriller “FX” starring Bryan Brown and Brian Dennehy.
FXHoward Casner is changing it up this month, giving up on his dreams of space and reverting to classic Hollywood, with the comedy/drama/romance...
Greetings LAMBs, you have been recruited by the LAMBcast to listen to this week’s episode, after you do, the Kodan Armada will be but a trifle for you to dispense with, it’s Movie of the Month time. The July MOTM was championed by Matthew Simpson of the Awesome Friday Podcast, and he hosts a crew of fellow recruits as we discuss the 1984 charmer “The Last Starfighter”.
We share our histories with the...
We had six films submitted for MOTM for July, all of them received votes but five of them were separated by only a single vote as the final week of polling was coming to a close. With a dash to the finish line, Matthew Simpson of “Awesome Friday Podcast won the honor of hosting the show with his film, “The Last Starfighter” from 1984.
Matt and his awesome guests will be recoding this show next and the podcast will...
Even if you don’t believe the Box Office report from opening weekend, that the movie made $666,666, you have to admit that’s a clever bit of business. The whole movie is loaded with those kinds of self referential moments, and the guests this week are anxious to join in dissecting them.
Sitting down in the guest chairs for this week’s episode are Lisa Leaheey, Nick Rehak and Jason Soto, all from the...
