January rarely starts out strong movie-wise, and whilst that’s the case this week it’s still not the worst start to a year. I’ve not yet seen Escape Room, but I’m really looking forward to catching it on streaming later in the year as it feels like a Saw sequel with more gimmicks, fewer prolonged plot contrivances and far fewer people stabbing themselves in the eye to get a key from the socket....
Every day until the Oscars ceremony we’ll be highlighting a different category or movie here on the LAMB! Here’s a link to all the posts written so far:
Today, Jeanette Ward from The Mundane Adventures of a Fangirl is here to look at the nominees for Best Visual Effects.

Below is a list of all the features and who has signed up for them – if you want to sign up for a category that doesn’t have a name next to it, email Rob – [email protected] / Twitter (@realmovierob) or email Jay [email protected] / Twitter (@LambThe).
The LAMB Devours The Oscars is finally here!
It has been a big success over the past few years so now it’s back for 2019! If you’re new or unfamiliar, The LAMB Devours The Oscars will see a LAMB member cover a different award each day (hopefully!) from today until this year’s ceremony on Sunday February 24th. That’s all 23 categories except Best Picture, with each of the 8 picture nominees receiving a...
To kick off the LAMB’s Oscar coverage this year we held our first annual Oscar Nominations Pool, in which LAMB members attempted to predict the entire field of Oscar nominees, except the shorts. The winner is announced below, but first let’s look at who guessed what:

To celebrate the Lambcast co-host’s birthday month, we let Richard select all the contenders for February’s Movie of the Month poll, and he’ll be hosting the upcoming Lambcast on it, so the surprise here isn’t who wins, but which film they picked that everyone else voted for. It was a very close-run race, with just one vote separating the top two...

Like The Director’s Chair series being run by Tony, I think that this reignited series is a great way to get a look at what the members of the Lamb community think about the work of some of the most prolific actors/actresses who have been entertaining us all for so many years.
I plan to try and focus on an actor or actress every month who has a birthday in that given calendar...
This month’s Acting School 101 teacher was Rosamund Pike.
We received a total of 92 reviews for 19 films that Rosamund Pike had parts in.
That’s quite an impressive amount.
Let’s see what the members of the LAMB community thought of Rosamund Pike’s career:

Here it is, the last Lambscores for films released in 2018, so it seemed appropriate to collate all the scores for the films as yet unpublished for the whole year. Needless to say, it’s quite a list! Here’s what the LAMB community has to say about a whole bunch of movies from last year:

Hello everyone and welcome to another year of Director’s Chair. This year, we’re starting off with a tribute to Penny Marshall.
Now Marshall got her start in acting, doing a few small appearances, and auditioning for a few big things, like All In The Family, but hit it big after...
