Should I even bother to pretend that more than half of this show’s audience cares about anything other than the fact that it includes the LAMMY nominations? Let’s not pretend. So yes, while we’d love it if you stuck around and became a lifelong fan of the show (and of LAMB-produced podcasts, in general), I know the score. So do try to enjoy our goofy draft of Tom Cruise movies (I’ll post the poll mentioned in the show in a few days) before launching yourself into the nominations. We follow that up, of course, with a couple games of Last LAMB Standing. On hand for the shenanigans were Dylan, Nick, Courtney, Alan, and Joel.
A couple notes:
* The show can be found, of course, via iTunes – just do a search for “LAMBcast.” Also, I always post a link to the show on the LAMBcast’s Facebook page, and there’s a player there if you’d like to listen online.
* Shows will eventually make their way to the LAMBcast Archives. If you’d ever like to catch up on back episodes, go there.
* If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster – we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. Opening song by Cake. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too – if you’d like yours read on a future show, leave it in the comments section at the LAMB. Please visit and like our Facebook page, and finally, we’re on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it’s a bad one.
Thanks for listening!
Cocktails… shame, shame, shame.
Wow I actually think you are the first one to actually listen to that segment… =)
Whats up with the Cocktail hate… I smell another MOTM campaign… hahaha
No Cocktail hate over here.
I wouldn’t say that I have hate for Cocktail – hell, it’s been well over a decade since I’ve seen it – but it’s reputation is as a pretty cheesy 80s flick.
I do love the idea of Joel getting behind another cheesy flick for the MOTM, though.
Another cheesy flick… I assume you referring to the (in)famous Long Kiss Goodnight craze, easy now… =)
This is the first round of Lammys that I’ve seen as a Lamb, and I love the idea. It forces you to reflect on the huge number of people who provide quality content and fill specific niches in your reading experience. But more importantly, it’s a great introduction to so many great LAMBs. There are several sites that I’m reading now as a direct result of the Lammys, and I wasn’t reading them before.
This is exactly why we do it, John. Thanks so much for the awesome compliment!
Congrats to all the nominees. I have a bunch of new sites to check out
No one picked my favorite Tom Cruise film, Losin’ It!!! Dylan’s got the best squad top to bottom.
Oh yeah, congrats to the nominees.
Yeahhh!!!
If it makes you feel better, I did mention it, Steve. I’ve always loved that Slider is in it – wonder if Cruise had a hand in him getting cast in Top Gun.
Without being under the gun I wouldn’t have complained if Ticker Talks Film and Front Room Cinema had been nominated for best community LAMB.
I know that I’m in the minority, but I kind of like MI:2. It’s ridiculous and pretty stupid, but it’s also entertaining because it’s so over the top. Right now I’m leaning towards Courtney’s “Tom Cruise running” team. Some of my favorites like Magnolia and Collateral were thrown out, so that plays a role too. Dylan’s team might also have a shot at my vote.
Congrats to all the nominees! There are a lot of great blogs being recognized across the board, and I’m planning to start checking out a lot of them that I haven’t seen yet.
I only saw MI2 the one time, but I hated it. They should have just called it “People Ripping Off Their Faces Every 5 Minutes,” since that’s all that seemed to happen. That and doves and slow-mo.
As Courtney himself inadvertently pointed out, Cruise has ran in all but 8 of his films, so at least 4/5 of everyone’s “team” features a running Cruise.
Wait. Did we just give Tom Cruise an honorary LAMMY Award? Was it a career achievement of a humanitarian award?
Great job on the podcast guys, and congratulations to all the nominees. By my count we had over 40 different blogs get nominated, which seems like a pretty impressive mix!
Hay Joel, keen plugging what I do, you won’t get any complaints from me.
