What is the main focus of your site?
The culture (primarily movies) I’ve been consuming and/or thinking about. There are also polls, interviews (mostly with musicians and authors), the weekly Box Office Power Rankings feature, and movie-related haiku.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I mostly write for myself, in the sense that the composition-and-revision process is the best way for me to process and evaluate movies.
A secondary (but related) goal is to get readers to see things in a way that they might not have otherwise. If I don’t, then my writing is in an important way a failure.
Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I’d love more of an interactive community, because I love sites that generate spirited, thoughtful dialogue, and because I’m no teacher.
How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Culture Snob was founded in July 2003, and I generally post two or three entries per week.
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Magnolia (1999, Anderson); Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control (1997, Morris); and Calendar (1993, Egoyan).
How did you hear about the LAMB?
Lazy Eye Theatre, as it’s sometimes known when it isn’t something else.
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
None.
