Our Acronym is Better Than Theirs – Picking the LAMB’s Top 10 Animated Films

by Dylan · October 9, 2008 · Uncategorized · 7 Comments

The results are in, and the LAMB has picked its Top 10 Animated Films (for background on this, click here). There were a total of 16 voters, with their votes spread out amongst 72 films.

With just 16 voters, it didn’t take much more than a single Top 10 vote for a film to make the Top 10 here, and the big winner here (and it was a bit of a blowout for the top spot) still only managed two first-place votes. Regardless, it’s a fine list, with a mixture of old and new, spread against multiple styles of animation.

Here are your winners (1st place votes in parentheses):

10. Sleeping Beauty – 24 points from 3 voters (1)

8. Aladdin – 25 points from 3 voters (0)

8. Beauty and the Beast – 28 points from 4 voters (1)

7. Spirited Away – 31 points from 4 voters (1)

6. Fantasia – 33 points from 6 voters (2)

5. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – 34 points from 5 voters (1)

4. The Incredibles – 36 points from 6 votes (1)

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas – 40 points from 6 votes (1)

2. The Lion King – 44 points from 7 votes (0)

1. Toy Story – 63 points from 10 votes (2)

So…how many did you vote for? If you’d like to see yours and all the other votes, scroll down. A post has been added with all of them, but I have dated it prior to this post so it won’t clutter the page.

Others receiving 1st-place votes: Finding Nemo, Kirikou And The Sorceress, Pinocchio, The Prince of Egypt, The Triplets of Belleville, and Wall*E.

Finally, with 2 votes, Documentaries have been chosen as the next genre to tackle. The poll is already up, and will be for two weeks – be sure to read the instructions. Go vote now so I don’t have to hassle you later! Thanks.

One final note – I’ve heard that Mister Poll doesn’t get along well with Internet Explorer 8. If you are having troubles, please try Firefox or Safari.

  1. Another satisfying top ten, though I am REALLY surprised at the low number of participants, given all the love out there for animated movies. I can only imagine documentaries will be a lower turnout, but ya never know.

WHAT?!?!?!? Beauty and the Beast made it only to spot #8? It was the first and only feature animated film to be nomination for an Oscar for the Best Picture of the year. Plus it’s my number one favorite. 😀

Where’s the rundown of bloggers? I like that.

Now that I’ve seen “Sita Sings the Blues,” I might have added it to my Top 10 list.

Dean – well, I’ve more or less stopped spamming myself and pushing them to vote (though it was effective, it just kind of rubs me the wrong way), so that probably has more to do with the low turnout than anything else. Though I agree – the docs turnout will likely be low, too. Oh well – hopefully we’ll have an even more “fun” genre next time; I may even mix it up and choose something a little goofy.

Marilyn – it is up now, below this post as usual.

  5. Top 10 blaxploitation movies.

    Sheeba, baby.

  6. Sarah says:

Oops, that low voter count is partially my fault. Sorry.

I meant to vote after I had muddled over the poll subject a bit but I forgot. Heck, the reason I finally remembered was because — oops — the voted results were in.

I’ll be better next time. Promise. =^)
