Apparently, the distribution company behind Synecdoche, New York has failed miserable. Nearly half the LAMBs that voted in our last poll were even given the chance to see the film. Either LAMBs instinctively live in super-rural areas (fitting, I ‘spose) or the film never made it into more than 50 theaters at a time. Whatever the case, most who had heard of it, and seen it, loved it. It ought to be an interesting case for the Academy; it will almost certainly garner a Best Original Screenplay nom (and might be the favorite), but I imagine it will get shut out otherwise.
Speaking of the Academy Awards (and perfect segues), it’s almost time for the 2nd edition of The LAMB Devours the Oscars! New poll is up to gauge your interest. Don’t remember (or never knew) what this was all about? Click here for last year’s posts on the topic. I wish I had some sort of introductory post from last year to link you to, but it appears as though it was done by email. There will be such a post for this year posted soon…right now I just want to get a pulse on the community.
