LAMBScores: There’s a Storm Coming, Mr. Allen, and It’s Going to Get Weird

by Nick Powell · August 10, 2012 · LAMBscores · 3 Comments

This is a huge edition of LAMBScores as it features one of the biggest films of the year and end to a memorable trilogy. I changed things slightly from last week, moving all review excerpts into their own section called “LAMB Bites”. This week’s scores include The Dark Knight RisesCosmopolis, and To Rome with Love. As always, feel free to post your own scores in the LAMBScores Forum, but please, read the rules beforehand.

Rotten Tomatoes: (4.35) 87%
IMDB: (4.45) 8.9/10
LAMB: 4.09 (59)
Average: 4.30

LAMB Bites:
Front Room Cinema: “TDKR is a good film spoilt only by some minor plot issues and transparency. But there is a lot to enjoy.”
Cinematic Katzenjammer: “A tragic and beautiful ending to one of the greatest trilogies of all time”
Grind My Reels: “TDKR isn’t just a mess of a film, it is one of the most brilliant, epic, and satisfying messes ever constructed.”
Fear of a Ghost Planet: “An audacious juggling act that’d succeed on the merit of sheer scale were it not for the fact that TDKR is just as successful as its predecessors in painting an only slightly-warped representation of our society, gently nudged to its extremes.”
Tips from Chip“It gives the Nolan Batman fans everything they could want.”
Can’t Stop the Movies: “TDKR at least ends successfully with five minutes of well delivered pathos, but not before making sure everyone is on the same page emotionally and with the overarching narrative of not impossible to decipher images delivered with repetition over almost three hours of punches and explosions.”

Rotten Tomatoes: 3.30 (66%)
IMDB: 3.05 (6.1/10)
LAMB: 3.00 (6)
Average: 3.12
