The nominations are here and so are the assignments for this year’s round of LAMB Devours the Oscars. Thanks to the flexibility of everyone who signed up, I was able to get everyone one of their top three choices of categories or films.
There are also several spaces left, so claim them in the comments section here so that people can see what’s still available. If you need ideas, click here for previous Devours articles on the categories. Note that you don’t necessarily need to have seen all the nominees to write an article.
In order to finish the series before the big show, posts will start this week, with an article posted approximately every day. So please get those articles/reviews in ASAP. You should send your article to nevertooearlymoviepredictions@gmail.com . Include all images/videos/links that you want within the post. You can also email me with any questions. Thank you again to all the volunteers!

Can I do Production Design?
Yep! It’s all yours! Let me know if you need anything or have any questions.
Can I take Amour?
It’s all your’s Tyler!
Hi David, I’d like to take up ARGO. Thanks!
Got you down for it Ruth!
So when is the due date exactly?
As long as most folks send theirs in sometime in the next week or so we should be ok to get them all done before the Oscars. Hopefully people who have already seen their film or who have categories that are better known can do theirs by that time, and I’ll just line them up in the queue to post one a day. That also allows any folks who get categories like the shorts or late releasing films to have a little more time to catch them in theaters without causing us to go to two a day posts at the end.
I would like to nab “Lincoln”!
You’ve got it Keith!
I could also do Best Supporting Actress if no one else wants it
Your choice. It sounded like you were really into Les Mis, but can switch you out if you’d like.
Looks like SDG would like Supporting Actress, so I’ll keep you with Les Mis if that still works Clara.
Oh, what the hell. Dibs on lead actor.
Lead Actor is all yours Anna!
Mine might be a little later since I still need to see Flight. (And it doesn’t get on DVD until early February.)
No problem Anna. As long as the majority of folks get their in we can make adjustments for you and others who need time to see the films.
I can also do Life of Pi if no one wants it.
I want to give as many folks as possible a chance. But if no one else signs up for it in the next day or two then I’ll let you double up with Pi.
I will jump in too. Supporting Actress or Foreign Film. I am fine with either of them.
Supporting Actress is yours SDG.
Really? No one has called dibs on Django? I’d like Django please.
You got it Nick. Shoot ‘Em Up!
I want to call live action shorts, but am a bit worried about my flakiness and/or the availability of them for me to see. If someone else is a lock, by all means give it to them, but my plan is to see them whenever I’m able to, and if I do in a reasonable amount of time, I’d happily write something up on them.
How’s that for non-committal?
That’s a pretty popular category Dylan, but I’l say it’s yours until someone offers me a higher bribe.
Haha…yeah, those shorts just fly off the shelves each year.
I was shocked to see that the docs ones was claimed earlier. That’s amongst the hardest to fill each year since it’s never put in theaters or as a part of any shorts program that’s easily accessible (as far as I know).
Documentary Feature is filled, but Documentary Shorts ares still open. It is a shame that they never screen those widely though. But it’s a great category for someone who likes to do research, as well as anyone living in LA or NY where there are limited screenings.
Animated Shorts was actually the very first request I got, so maybe short films are making a come back?
Ah, misread that.
I think they are, at least the nominated ones, anyway. I don’t recall hearing about the Shorts International programs until just the last few years, and they seem to have piqued interest. I’m just not sure if that interest peaked a couple years ago or not. I recall seeing last year that the box office for the programs wasn’t as high last year as it had been in prior years. We’ll see…
Jason. Who the hell is Jason? He doesn’t write for the videovangaurd. The only person who does is the one and only TheVern
My apologies man! I’d blame it on getting up at 5 AM this morning for the Oscar noms, but the truth is I did the draft last night, so there’s no excuse.
no worries at all man. It was a lot of work on your part. Great Job on setting it up
I’ll take Best Costume Design!
Thanks Brittani! Costumes are all yours!
Fantastic. My post will up and running (and sent to the appropriate persons) sooooooon!!
Thanks Kevyn!
I will take Zero Dark Thirty if no one has claimed it yet!
Marshall of “Marshall and the Movies”
It’s yours Marshall!
Great … if you don’t mind, I may wait a little bit to submit just because I think the whole torture controversy has still yet to reach any sort of a conclusive end. Martin Sheen and Ed Asner spoke out today, and I get the feeling plenty of others have yet to air their opinions…
That works for me. I knew that ZDT wasn’t opening a lot of places until this weekend, so I had already planned on it being a category where someone might need some extra time.
I can do whatever is left.
Looks like we just commented at the same time Branden. See the six categories I just posted for details.
A rundown of the categories still available (so that you don’t have to look back and forth through the comments and the list above):
(Some of these have backups from folks who are already taking another category and are willing to do a second one, but I want to give as many people a chance as possible, so if you haven’t signed up for a category yet you’ll get priority).
Life Of Pi
Silver Linings Playbook
Documentary Shorts
Foreign Language
Makeup and Hairstyling
Sound Editing
darn, it looks like Lincoln is already taken…..:(
I’d like to do a roundtable discussion of Lincoln with myself and Journey’s in Classic Film!
Candice, are there any others that you’d like to try instead?
I’m willing to do Silver Linings Playbook if no one new picks it.
Thanks Brittani. I’m going to leave these open for a little while longer so that everyone has a chance to sign up for one, but if nobody does then this will be yours.
I’ll do Foreign Language.
You got it Branden!
Thank you.
