A huge thank you to our record 106 eligible voters who submitted their picks! I encourage you to discuss all results in the comments. We begin with the award for Best Documentary Film. The Top 5 Documentaries of 2012 are…
5. How To Survive A Plague (49 points)
4. The Queen of Versailles (51 points)
3. The Invisible War (66 points)
2. The Imposter (133 points)
1. Searching for Sugar Man (137 points)
As you can see, this was one of the closest categories in this year’s awards. Oscar frontrunner Searching for Sugar Man managed to narrowly edge out The Imposter (the #1 LAMBScore of 2012) by a mere 4 points. Come back tomorrow for the award for Best Foreign Film.
Previous Winners
2009: The Cove
2010: Exit Through The Gift Shop
2011: Senna
This confirms that I need to watch The Queen of Versailles. Solid picks everyone!
Searching for Sugarman joins a very solid bunch of previous winners. I had Sugarman and Imposter ranked as one and two on my ballot.
Got to say I’m kind of surprised on Imposter having so huge LAMBscores but we’ll probably discuss that more when we get the 2012 LAMBscores round-up presented here as well.
Sad to see no love for the Woody Allen doc. I loved the long cut of that, great achievement. But yeah, Sugarman is a great choice really. Certainly one of the year’s best.
According to Shane on twitter you were the sole voter of Woody…
Yes, I’ve seen – tragic! I’d like to believe that’s because not many people have seen it… I really thought it was very high quality work.
I know at least one other LAMB who saw it… *cough Velvetcafe cough*
Great picks, only have not seen number 5, but will make sure I will!
I know number 3 will just anger me but I need to see it
Where did Jiro Dreams of Sushi place?
Jiro only had 18 points, so it was pretty far behind.
