After last month’s destruction by, appropriately, Demolition Man, we were due for a change of pace, and boy did we get one. We had quite the downturn in participation; after 137 votes last month, there were just 51 this month, but the upside of that is that we had an intense race. It was so close, in fact, that the top three films were separated by a total of two votes, with Upstream Color winning with 14 votes, followed by Flash Gordon at 13 and Mad Max with 12. Tight! And so, Shane Carruth’s Primer follow-up becomes the latest Movie of the Month, with, again appropriately, Shane from The Cinematic Katzenjammer becoming the Champion!
So, here’s what goes down from here:
* The first thing you need to know is that October 20th is the big day. You have just about four weeks to watch the flick, write up something, then send me the link (dylan at manilovefilms.com; you may also post to the LAMBcast’s Twitter account) to either what you write or something previously written. If you’re planning on doing the former, please hold the post in draft until the 20th (you can send a link prior if you have the capability to do so).
* On October 13th, we’ll be recording our MOTM-themed episode of the LAMBcast, where we’ll dissect and discuss Upstream Color. If you’d like to get in on it, there is the NEW Wild Card spot on the show, delivered via first-come, first-served. The show’s recording time is 9am Pacific, so if you’d like in, speak up! Also, for anyone else, keep an eye out at the LAMB Forums to for the future shows schedule, as people often have to bail before the day arrives.
* On the 15th, the LAMBcast will be posted, as well as all of the links to anything written. In addition, I’ll include a poll to decide what the next MOTM flick will be (the call for new Champions will be coming at some point before then). That poll will run for a week, and then there’ll be 3-4 weeks until the next event, and so on.
Here are the final results of the poll (click to enlarge):
* The Cinematic Katzenjammer will be ineligible to become a Champion for the next three months. Life Vs. Film has two more months of ineligibility remaining, and Public Transportation Snob has one. French Toast Sunday becomes eligible again with the next poll.
