Today’s award is Best Actress. Here are your Top 5:
5. Meryl Streep (August: Osage County) – 55 points
4. Amy Adams (American Hustle) – 58 points
3. Brie Larson (Short Term 12) – 67 points
2. Sandra Bullock (Gravity) – 100 points
1. Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) – 153 points
Well I must say, the voting for this award was very fascinating. Blanchett scored a massive 105 points in the first round (i.e. 1st place votes) and seemed to have this win locked. Of course, she did end up winning but Sandra Bullock came on strong in the end, suggesting that she would have been just as popular had Blanchett not been in the mix. The only Oscar nominee missing this time around was Judi Dench, who scored 33 points to end up in 9th place.
Tomorrow’s award is Best Actor. Stay tuned!
Previous Winners
2008: Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road) & Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married)
2009: Carey Mulligan (An Education)
2010: Natalie Portman (Black Swan)
2011: Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)
2012: Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty)
The fact that Clement and Exarchopoulos missed here is pretty awful. Come on Lamb voters, we aren’t the Academy…we don’t HAVE to nominate Meryl Streep!
I was also surprised that Adele didn’t make it (she tied for 6th with Julie Delpy on 52 points).
Who is Clement? Agree with Streep, that was easily her hammiest performance ever. Olivia Wilde in Drinking Buddies got my vote.
Suzanne Clement was in Laurence Anyways. Great film if you haven’t seen it.
