The Jay-free streak continues with a topic he’d be pretty terrible at discussing anyway, westerns! But fear not, Nick Rehak is on hand to pop his Lambcast-hosting cherry, and he does a great job with it.

Nick, along with guests Kristen Lopez, DJ Valentine, Will Slater and newcomer Howard Casner are all competing to pick the best “team” of western movies, a genre that’s broad enough to induce some pretty satisfying debate about what a western really is – if you like people arguing about what genre a movie is, then the Lambcast continues to be the place to go.

Also on tap: Rants and Raves of the Week and a couple of games of Last Lamb Standing.

Vote here for the team you think is the best:

  1. Great show guys! In terms of the is it a western/isn’t it a western discussion, I agree with Will on all his points.

Had I been the 6th member of the show, my team would have been:
    A Fistful of Dollars
    Open Range
    The Quick and the Dead
    Nevada Smith
Back to the Future part 3
    Rango

And some that don’t fit the criteria but nearly do: City Slickers and Three Amigos! Plus Wild Wild West, but there’s no way that’d earn me any votes whatsoever.

  2. I’m with DJ, Are you kidding me, throwing shade on Clint Eastwood and on Unforgiven. Howard is nuts saying The Searchers is over rated. I had a great time yelling at my Kindle as I listened to the Podcast. Kristen, all grant you The Proposition but it is not as egregious as Near Dark would have been, you get forgiven for adding Errol Flynn to your list.. It sounded like everyone had a good time.

    I’ll take:
3:10 to Yuma with Glenn Ford and Van Heflin
    Duck You Sucker
The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance
    She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
True Grit 1969 With John Wayne and Strother Martin, thank you very much.
oh, and Red River, so I have 4 out of six with the Duke.
