Many of you are anxiously awaiting “Hamnet”, as is Jesse Buckley, but for completely different reasons. You are anticipating one of the better films of the year, whereas Miss Buckley is anticipating her Oscar. This week on the Lambcast, we will alleviate your anticipation with some very strong opinions. Jessie Buckley will have to wait but our LAMBs think she may have a satisfying outcome to her patience.
Rachel Wagner and Latoya Austin join the show this week to tackle the fictional historical drama, “Hamnet”. The relationship between William Shakespeare and his wife Anne (Agnes) Hathaway has been shrouded in mystery and speculation for hundreds of years. Director Chloé Zhao and Novelist Maggie O’Farrell have created a story that postulates love fueled romance. The film is also potentially grief porn because a tragedy befalls the family they create and it may be the seed that planted the greatest play in history.

No one would ask a family with this kind of loss, “Was it worth it?” but audiences may have that question in the back of their minds while watching the film. You may also ask yourself what “Train Dreams”, “One Battle After Another”, “Platoon” and “Titanic” have to do with this, but to find out you have to listen or watch.
