If you have been worried about the movie industry, particularly about the ability to create new works that stimulate the mind and touch the heart, then “Project Hail Mary” is here to give you hope. The new film from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and author Andy Weir, will help restore some confidence that Hollywood can still produce something that is hopeful rather than nihilistic. When you walk out of a movie theater with a smile on your face rather than dread in your heart, you know you have found a winner.

Ryan Gosling is not quite a one man show, but he comes close for large sections of the movie. Lisa Leaheey and Heather Baxendale-Walsh try to explain their initial trepidation, and how Gosling leaps over their walls of resistance. Tony Cogan sings the praises of seeing this on an IMAX screen, and Howard Casner and Richard, explain away the few issues they had, to embrace Grace and Rocky in their quest to save the galaxy.
