So, remember that post from, um, yesterday, about the new way to update the LAMB scroll box?

Well, scratch that. Because this is world’s better. With many thanks to Rick from Stop the Planet of the Apes… I want to get off., you need only do one more update to the code on your site…and then never again (I hope), because all the updating on my part will now dynamically update the code to whoever has it posted on their site. Brilliant, no? Here’s all you need to do:

Copy this code. Paste it where you currently have your code.

Done. Every time I edit the source code, it will update on your site. Note: if you wish to, you can edit the height, width, or LAMB button (change only the image name) displayed in the above code when placing it on your site (I do for BC, anyway).

Let me know if you run into any issues or have any questions.

ETA: WordPress bloggers: I’ve heard of some issues regarding these widgets, specifically related to getting the images to work properly. Here is a solution that has been offered that I’ve heard works:

* Go in Appearance > Widget. Make a new Text Widget in sidebar, paste code into that. Best is to save the picture, upload it by going to “Media” then grab the link and paste that inside the code instead of the old link.

  3. NICE – but we’re now stuck with the WHITE BORDER logo again, just when I finally had a black one!

WHY don’t you make the COLOR of that border a settable option for us, like most every other interface element on the net since about 1990?? DOH…

SOrry, but I’ve been doing this since 1980 in microcomputers – sometimes people go backwards not forwards – you never “hard code” colors into elements that will go on many different user interfaces! basic programming…

At least the NEW box won’t need updating – that’s very good!

  4. Jose,

For someone that’s been doing this for so long, you should know that you’re, in fact, not stuck with anything. As you can see on my site (Blog Cabins), I don’t have the white-bordered logo on there – you’re free to change the logo to any of your choosing, just as you can change the width and height of the box to your choosing (as I’ve also done).

So long as you have the Javascript code in there, the box will work as intended; the rest can be altered to your liking. I’ve simply defaulted it to the most popular option.
