It’s Blusterin’ Time!

If you’re new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here are the basics:

What I do is list a site; you critique it. But here’s the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don’t leave the comment using your normal alias/login – instead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don’t be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I’ll have no problem deleting the comment.

So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.

And remember: Blustering should be a two-way street; if you’ve asked to be blustered, you better be a blusterer.

  1. This may come down to personal preference, but I feel like it’s a bit hard to read. The combination of such a narrow column of the main text and the dark blue makes for tough reading, at least in my case.

  2. If I had any criticism it is that there is too much going on, on both sides, what with the various widgets and images, for me to concentrate on the posts.

  3. It looks like you have a lot of good content, but the layout is an immediate turnoff. White text on a black background is generally not a good idea.

  4. Kevyn,

Considering I’m a reader of your site regularly, it’s a bit hard to “bluster”.

My complaint: commenting on their is a bitch. Not sure what the hell happened, but you need to see this for yourself.

I don’t mind the background that much, but I can agree on “there’s a bit too much going on” – though, that’s not entirely a bad thing.

One last thing: I feel that you should combine both of your sites – “Beautiful Fraud” with “Cinematheque”. Readership would increase, and finding your reviews wouldn’t be such a scavenger hunt.

Regardless, I think you have a great site man. Keep up the good work.

  5. I have thought of combining my sites but I have so many past reviews on The Cinematheque, I wouldn’t know what to do with them.

As for the busy-ness of my blog, yeah I know. I am a pack rat in real life so I suppose it makes sense I am that way in cyberspace as well.

As for the commenting – what do you mean. When I respond to comments I never have a problem. As far as I know, it is just like commenting here on the LAMB. What does it do when you try it. I want to fix it if it is a problem (and if I am able).

  6. I hate to be a bitch on this point Rachel: But I find it more meaningful and personal to leave * constructive * comments, with the person knowing who this comes from.

If you’d like me to not comment on the LAMB – and just go to their site and leave a remark, I’l be glad to.

For now, though, anonymous feels to have less of a significance on the writer.

  7. However, the blogger needs to look at all of these comments objectively, which they can’t do if they know who’s leaving the comments.
