Yes, I’m still behind, and I apologize. This episode is posted a few days late and I’ve got to get the next one up in time for Saturday’s MOTM. The pressure!
Anyway, episode 87 was one of our increasingly rare “one-off” episodes where host Nick talked to Courtney, Alan, and Fredo about films that they love that are pretty much unloved or unseen by the rest of the world. So you might call them guilty pleasures, but that moniker might not fit them all so well.
Per the request of the show participants, the films mentioned were:
* The Black Cauldron
* Zero Effect
* Hanna
* I’m a Cyborg But That’s OK
* Hocus Pocus
* 5 x 2
* Millions
* Surf Ninjas
* American Pie
* Marked for Death
* Pirate Radio
* EuroTrip
Also on tap:
* Rants of the Week
* Raves of the Week
* Last LAMB Standing
Note: I’m still having an issue with the Podomatic embeddable player; will update and include as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for listening!

Great show. Thanks in particular for the leads on 5X2 and Millions. I’ll check them out!
You guys had me totally sucked in with the first 3 flicks (sorry, Nick).
I’m not even sure if I ever saw The Black Cauldron movie, but I spent many an hour playing the PC game as an 11-year old, so I have fond memories of it (bonus – it can be downloaded for free…I just might have to do that, along with Wizardry and Leisure Suit Larry…).
Then Zero Effect. I’m with Courtney. It’s been some time since I saw it, but I remember digging it and thinking Pullman was pretty damn funny in it. Don’t let the Stiller name scare you away – it’s before he basically turned in to Eddie Murphy…oh, how ironic that they’re in Tower Heist together.
And, of course, my love for Hanna is well-documented. Definitely will be in my top 10 of the year, and is my favorite soundtrack of the year by far.
After that, you guys touched on a bunch of flicks I haven’t seen (Hocus, 5 x 2, Surf Ninjas, Pirate Radio, only about 1/3 of Cyborg). Any early Seagal is fun times, and Millions is quality as well, though in terms of Boyle’s work, it can’t help but be in the lower tier. American Pie seemed a strange inclusion in this list – tons of people saw it, and most liked it (at least at the time).
Good show as usual. A bit disappointed that Nick didn’t mention Matt Damons hillarious cameo in Eurotrip!
Dylan: I think American Pie was mentioned because its probably quite hated among the movie blogosphere and some time the Lambcast discussions go in that direction.
It was a nice topic and I hope its brought back.
Joel: I *did* mention Damon’s cameo… unless Dylan cut it out in editing.
There’s your answer. He cut it out. =)
Zero Effect is awesome and people should give it more love.
The frustration of people not being able to explain movies is not new. I remember working at a video store 15 years ago and having a customer ask for “that movie with that guy and that girl. You know the one… the guy’s in that other movie…” He did not leave with his movie.
Finally, the Matt Damon cameo WAS mentioned with appropriate love.
Sorry I must have dozed of then. His cameo was the high point of the film.
