resize_imageWho is Cumberbatch playing?  Will there be more cameos from the original series’ cast members?  What’s up with Alice Eve?  To Spock or not to Spock?  And seriously, does J.J. Abrams have it out for San Francisco?  These questions and many more were tackled on episode 168, in which Dylan, Justin, Jessica, Jay and Sebastian discussed the sequel to the 2009 megahit in detail.

  1. Great episode. I loved the new Trek. I think some of the fan service was a little over the top but what worked really worked. I didn’t mind the Alice Eve scene. Yeah it was a little gratuitous but there are worse offenders out there. My only complaint about these two new Treks is that Bones is getting sidelined a little too much.

I haven’t seen anything Star Trek related yet but this one sure does sound interesting. By the way, it was lovely to hear a foreign accent for a change, and as you know Jessica, I agree with you on the gender issue.

    • Dylan Dylan says:

Haha – depends on your definition of foreign accent. I’m assuming you just mean non-American, but Jay (UK) is a mainstay and Joel is on the show often, just to name a couple. Other “foreigners” more than welcome. 😀
