As you may know, there’s more than just the Lambcast in the Lamb Podcasting Network and I’ll be here every week to hopefully share some of the other shows worth listening to that have released an episode within the past week, if you’re not subscribed to all of the network shows, make sure you stop by here in case you find something new that you fancy, I will also toss in the occasional news and featured episode. Descriptions of the episodes are in the hosts own words where possible.

Also, if you’re a member of the LPN and have any announcements: hiatuses, returns, call for guests feel free to let me know and I’ll feature it on one of these posts. Now, onto the shows!

News

3 minute weekendIt’s time for a little bit of housekeeping, meaning that it’s time to welcome a few new shows to the network. We are already starting to grow and I’m glad to introduce these shows to the fold. First up is a spin-off show from TC Kirkham at Subject: Cinema called Three Minute Weekend which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, a three-ish minute quick take look at the new releases coming out that weekend. New episodes release on Fridays so make sure you’re subscribed, you can check out his take on this past weekend’s movies right here.

Stop Button FavoritesNext up is a new project from a Lamb network show that had closed its doors last year, from Andrew Wickliffe of an Alan Smithee podcast comes his new project Stop Button Favorites. These are audio commentaries from his favorite films and are released monthly. The films vary from the classics like King Kong to more recent films like Man of Steel. The next episode will be on next week’s post so keep an eye out!

Stay tuned, as I will be sharing another brand new member to the network on next week’s post. I’d also like to quickly mention that I have made a Paper.li for the LPN, it automatically generates content based on what the LPN members share on Twitter and will come out each week on Mondays, Check it out here. Finally, I’d like to wrap things up with a podcast returning from a three month hiatus. My own Filmwhys has returned and will be back with regular episodes every other week. It feels good to be back!

“The Silence of the Lambs and The Death of the Incredible Hulk”

Episode 51 of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest is David Babbitt from 24 Panels per Second who asks me why I haven’t seen the Silence of the Lambs, one of the few horror films that have won an Academy Award for Best Picture and introduced the world to Anthony Hopkins’ version of Hannibal Lecter. And in return I ask him why he hadn’t seen the Death of the Incredible Hulk, the last of the TV movies from the TV show with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.

“Welcome to the Dollhouse/Showgirls”

Kristen Lopez (Journeys In Classic Film / Walt Sent Me Podcast) joins me again as we look at two cult films from 1995. First we have Todd Solenz’s alternative take on high school in “Welcome To The Dollhouse” which could be seen as the spiritual prelude to “Daria” and “Ghost World”. We also take a look at the sleazy side of Vegas with “Showgirls” a film which Kristen refers to as being “All About Eve” with strippers. All this plus I try to explain the plot of “Domino”, Kristen shows off her Disney Knowledge and the bizarre offshoots that “Showgirls spawned plus much more!

Really Awful Movies #41

“Prom Night and Its 2008 Remake

In this special episode of the Really Awful Movies Podcast, we compare and contrast Prom Night (Jamie Lee Curtis, 1980) and Prom Night (Brittany Snow, 2008). Did you go to your high school prom? Is it OK to go stag to your prom? Why are proms so popular? Prom Night is filmed in our hometown of Toronto. Its remake, was moved to California and didn’t have the “accidental” death of a young girl as a backstory. We talked about whether the 1980 flick holds up. And whether the 2008 version holds true to the original (it doesn’t).

Note: Also check out Episode 40 released this week.
