Last week the Lambcast celebrated the year that changed movies [citation needed] with our 1999 Movie Draft, and now it’s time to vote on who you think assembled the best team of movies.
Jay, Robert, Dylan, Matt and Nolahn all competed to pick the best, or at least their favourite, films wide-released in America in 1999. You listen to the full show here, which is a lot of fun, with a lot of movie discussion, recommendations and such. You can vote on the teams at the bottom of the page, and here they are:
Robert’s Team (The Matrix, Toy Story 2, Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, The Mummy, American Pie, Stir of Echoes)
Dylan’s Team (Fight Club, Galaxy Quest, Rushmore, Run Lola Run, Three Kings, The Thomas Crown Affair)
Nolahn’s Team (The Sixth Sense, Being John Malkovich, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Mystery Men, Cruel Intentions)
Matt’s Team (American Beauty, The Blair Witch Project, The Iron Giant, Go, Payback, Sleepy Hollow)
Jay’s Team (Magnolia, Office Space, Election, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Deep Blue Sea, Dogma)
If there’s a topic you think would make for a good draft, please suggest it in the comments and, if we like it, we’ll do it on a future show. Thanks for voting!
Dylan takes this one going away! No duds in the bunch. Jay gets an honorable mention for picking Magnolia and putting together a solid group of films.
I’m with Dan. Jay was a close second for me, but Dylan’s pulled the vote in the end.
Thank you, gents! Jay would probably be my second choice as well, but his irrational love for Deep Blue Sea (fun yes, but in a “good bad” fun type of way) probably woulda knocked my vote away from him if I weren’t already biased.
Had to go with Nolahn’s team. The Sixth Sense, Being John Malkovich, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Mystery Men, Cruel Intentions. That sounds like a great way to spend a weekend. Also, I’ve never liked Fight Club (sacrilege, I know) so that takes Dylan’s list (2nd best of the bunch) out of the running.
