Asphalt and the Lone Ranger

Episode #57 of the Why Haven’t You Seen This Film Podcast where my guest is Fritzi Kramer from Movies Silently who asks me why I hadn’t seen the 1929 German silent film Asphalt, one of the last silent films from Germany before sound films took over. And in return, I ask her why she hadn’t seen the 1956 version of the Lone Ranger which brought the adventures of the television series to the big screen for the first time in an adventure that surprisingly had some small similarities to the recent Johnny Depp movie.

The 2015 Fall Movie Preview

THIS WEEK: It’s LABOR DAY! Yay! Happy Labor Day! It’s the Unofficial Official start of Oscar Season (or is that the Official Unofficial start – whichever today isn’t goes for the first day of the Toronto Film Festival later this week) and time to look at the 100 PLUS films coming to theaters between today and New Years’ Eve! Plus we’ve got some speculation on Awards and more. And as always, our bible for this show is Entertainment Weekly’s annual fall preview issue, but they missed a TON of films this year, and the ones they missed we DID NOT – they’re in segment five. And we’ll round it all up with this week’s America’s Got Talent Semi Finals! It’s gonna be a HELLUVA SHOW!

(title pending) Movie Podcast with Tank and Fogs #121

Hey Everybody, we’re back with our summer roundup episode, in which we break down the biggest hits of the summer, crown the champ of our summer movie box office league, review “Fantastic Four”, “Mission Impossible” and “Straight Outta Compton”, and mark the passing of Wes Craven. Then, in honor of the turd that was Fantastic Four (spoiler, sorry), Tank and I break down the worst Superhero Movies of all time! It’s a great episode, you dont want to miss it!

Really Awful Movies #55

Double Impact

Double Impact is double the damage – double the Van Damme-age to be exact. Before you may have thought “double impact” to be a really ugly type of font, but it’s also a really cheesy movie. This martial arts action flick features mono-zygotic twin Van Dammes, running around Hong Kong. They’re also quite monosyllabic. The film is almost like a bad scientific study about what happens when washed up Belgian has-beens who share 100% of their DNA are raised apart. One teaches aerobics in purple leotards, the other grew up in the mean streets of Hong Kong. They eventually meet and team up to battle gangsters. FEEL THE IMPACT. DOUBLE IMPACT!

MBDS Showcase #25

Mallrats/Bio-Zombie

Nolan (Your Face / The Lair of the Unwanted Podcast) joins me for a pair of unique trips to the mall as we look at Kevin Smith’s tale of two slackers trying to win back their girlfriends in “MallRats”. We also look at the unique zombie movie “Bio-zombie” who own slackers are forced to deal with a zombie outbreak, after a bio-weapon clumsily disguised as a soda gets accidently drunk. All this plus Nolan reveals his spirit guide, how not to handle your trailer being leaked and the career of Kevin Smith plus much more!!

French Toast Sunday #247

Best Films of 2015 So Far

Another year gone by and it’s time again to talk about the film year so far.

Walt Sent Me #39

O Brother Where Art Thou?

On the new episode of Walt Sent Me, Kristen and Todd return to the realm of the Coen Brothers to discuss their 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou? They also discuss Mickey Mouse in the 1930 short The Chain Gang.

Exploding Helicopter #14

The Swarm

“Oh my god, bees bees, millions of bees.” Arm yourself with bug spray and a fly swatter because the bees are coming! That’s right, we’re looking at one of the classics of ‘bad cinema’, infamous seventies disaster movie The Swarm (1978). On this episode Exploding Helicopter is joined by Booze from the Sweet Feathery Jesus podcast. Amongst the topics of discussion: the bizarre outbreaks of Northern Soul dancing, septuagenarian love triangle, and whether this film isn’t just a little bit *whisper it* racist.
