2021 is almost upon us, and with this new beginning comes another year of movie of the month winners. It therefore seems apt to begin the year with a first-time winner. Of the eight films submitted, as always there is only one winner, so for January we’ll be looking at the 1948 Powell & Pressburger classic, The Red Shoes!

Congratulations go to the film’s champion, Meg Hyland of Meg’s Movie Alphabet. She’d vowed to champion the film until it won, so whether it won this month or several years down the line, it’s discussion was inevitable. For successfully championing the film she also gets the chance to host the feature discussion of the upcoming Lambcast dedicated to the winning movie of the month. 

If you would like to submit a film for a future MOTM poll, get in touch! Winners are excluded for a calendar year, so Meg Hyland is now ineligible until 2022.
