Lambcast #611 Ghostbusters Afterlife

by Richard Kirkham · November 23, 2021 · Featured, LAMBcast · No Comments

The blackout is over for this long delayed sequel to Ghostbusters, not the 2016 iteration, but the classic 1984 film and it’s 1989 follow up. Is it worthy, will you be disappointed, why should you never trust atoms?

Time has passed and the Ghostbusters are not a thriving enterprise anymore. The long estranged family of Egon Spengler has inherited his farm, but do any of them have the ability to see what it was that brought him to this desolate location? That’s what the film is going to tell you. We won’t spoil it for you but you can probably figure it out from watching the trailer, or thinking about why they would make the movie in the first place.

If you are looking for a real girl power take on the Ghostbusters, skip the 2016 film and go directly to this film where Lisa Leaheey, Jeanette Ward, Todd Liebenow and Thomas Stoneham-Judge will explain. The film has received some criticim from the press over it’s dependence on fan service, you will hear a spirited defense of such service and a discussion of some of our favorite moments from that box of tricks.

McKenna Grace is the real star of the movie, but one of her co-stars is this year’s “Sexist Man Alive”, Paul Rudd, and the cast of our show talk about why that matters to the film and how well he was used in the movie.

We also have the weekly Rants/Raves and Reviews as well as a game that will test your knowledge of 80s Movie Pop Themes, will Thomas uphold the dignity of Millennials among this crowd of Boomers and Gen X 80s kids? You will have to listen to find out.
