The latest film from Tom Cruise has arrived in theaters, delayed for two years by Covid, but it appears that the pent up anticipation has not dissipated as the Box Office this last weekend was monster. The podcast for the show suffered a high number of casualties however, as guest host Howard had only Heather Baxendale Walsh to disagree with this week. Don’t think that the show suffers from that however because the two of them do some deep dives into Top Gun, Val, Tom Cruise in general, and nostalgia based action films.
As usual, there is a party pooper on the show, so if you are expecting universal praise for the highly rated, financially successful and widely lauded film, get set for a conversation. Questionable international acts of diplomacy/war and hokey story telling are some of the things that bother at least one of the two voices on the show.
Will you be able to remember all of the characters in the movie? Do you need to remember all of the characters in the movie? Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly are given the once over and while not exactly found wanting, the participants in this week’s show did have a few reservations.
The flying and action scenes however are the one thing that everyone seems to agree on, they look great. The shared perspective on this aspect of the film takes up a little bit of time, and you will get some music, photography, and editing talk as well. We don’t get any Lamb Scores this week, but you will get the general idea. Do you feel the need for Speed? Fly into the Danger Zone with Howard and Heather.
