Lambcast #660 U.S. Marshals MOTM

by Richard Kirkham · November 8, 2022 · Featured, LAMBcast · No Comments

Did you remember that there was a sequel to the 1993 Academy Award Nominated Best Picture “The Fugitive”? A lot of people do not recall that but Jeanette Ward was not one of those, she is laser focused on Wesley Snipes and he stars as the new fugitive in this 1998 film.

Tommy Lee Jones reprises his Academy Award winning role as Deputy Marshal Sam Gerard and he is as badass as you remember. He brings back his posse of fugitive hunters to pursue Snipes and they are joined by an unsurprisingly snarky Robert Downey Jr.

This is an action film that mixes a chase story with the question, is he guilty? Unlike Richard Kimble, we are not sure if Mark Sheridan is a good guy or not. There is a complex subplot involving Chinese Spies, a traitor and a hidden agenda behind the quest to apprehend or kill this fugitive. Todd Liebenow, James Wilson, and Lisa Leaheey join Jeanette and Richard in recalling and dissecting this film from editor turned director Stuart Baird. The film was a modest success at the box office but how does it fare with our guests.

You will learn a new verb “Warburtoning” and understand why grain elevators are not a place to play around. When we get to the Rants/Raves and Reviews you will get an earful about actors Andy Serkis and  Vincent D’Onofrio as well as a couple of films you might want to invest some time with.

There is a lot to consider here and we get a game as well. Spend some time in the 90s action milieu and listen to your community on this forgotten sequel.
