Lambcast #677 Whatcha Been Watching?

by Richard Kirkham · March 7, 2023 · Featured, LAMBcast · No Comments

It’s another special program on the Lambcast, where the guests determine the content and no one knows what we might be talking about. As it turns out, there were bingeable streaming series and pre-code favorites, floating around this week’s show. A month old horror film and a forty year old horror film also pop up in the discussions.

In the first round we get a VOD from this year and a gangster film that is over 90 years old. There is a Netflix series that will baffle you with it’s lack of structure and a Barbara Stanwyck feature where she is a stripper. Jeffrey Lyles and Jeanette Ward keep us contemporary, while the old guys on the show, Richard and Howard Casner, insist on watching stuff that is even older than they are.

Horror films dominate the second round with A.I. making all of us a little concerned and Dario Argento. Then we get a comedy about a holocaust survivor and Alzheimers, sound like fun huh? Another pre-code that stars like a comedy but ends up in a very different place.

David Harbour acts without speaking, everybody wishes for a million bucks, a movie that you can just see as this podcast goes live and Richard’s favorite movie. There is plenty of enthusiasm for some of these, but a couple were also undersold. You will have to listen to find out which one is which.

Parody, bad acting, classic horror and an HBO adaptation of a video game, these are the things that round out the first part of the show. When we come back from the break, an old standby joins the show for our game this week. How well do you know your biggest movie star in the world?

The show finishes with an exit question this week, relevant due to the Academy Awards about to be given out. Maybe you have an opinion to share as well.
