Lambcast #726 Ghostbusters Frozen Empire

by Richard Kirkham · March 25, 2024 · Featured, LAMBcast, New Release · No Comments

There are now five films in the “Ghostbusters” Franchise (that is if you count the 2016 film which is widely dismissed by fans) and the newest one hit theaters this last week. The new cast from “Ghostbusters Afterlife” have moved back to New York City and they have taken up the family business, but not without some complications.

This week our cast of Lambs does some busting of their own, questioning whether the focus of the franchise has shifted and calling into question the consistency of even the legacy characters. We find plenty to be disappointed in, but it turns out that we are also apologists for a film that may end up charming us despite it’s flaws.

How many “Ghostbusters” does it take to fill a movie, none, because you film a movie not fill it. The makers of this film clearly did not get that joke. “Frozen Empire” is stuffed with characters that we met before, regardless of whether that makes sense, and it introduces a few more. The final scenes look a little bit like DaVinci’s “Last Supper”. It’s not just characters that fill the movie to the brim, the plot has plenty to stuff into two hours as well.

Lisa Leaheey, Matt Hudson and Todd Liebenow rank their Ghostbuster, and have some cast recommendations to finish off the show. Come join us, because busting will make you feel good.
