Lambcast #745 Roll Your Own Top Five

by Richard Kirkham · September 4, 2024 · Featured, LAMBcast, Roll Your Own Top 5 · No Comments

This week is a DIY project for the LAMBS. They are to assemble a top five list of any subject that they choose. So a Top Five List of anything movie related that they want to talk about: Stars, Films in a Genre, Taglines, Quotes, Posters, Songs, Scenes, it’s all up to the guests. What will they come up with?

Well, Thomas Stoneham-Judge of ForReel is about to cover the Toronto International Film Festival, so he figures out a way to build his list and promote his site at the same time. Very clever Thomas. The audience at the festival chooses one award, and Thomas has some opinions on the choices, which are good recommendations for all of you.

Can’t make it to Canada this year, and low on funds? That’s OK, Howard Casner has you covered as he answers the question that Hamlet wrestled with “Tubi or not Tubi”. It is apparently nobler in the mind to watch something for free, even if you have to put up with commercials. Howard has found some films that will make you willing to be sold to.

Tired of Digital Projection, Dolby Atmos and IMAX 3-D choices? Tony Coogan has found an ansere for you. Skip the film and see the play. That’s right, there are lots of stage plays that are turned into movies, but the reverse process happens as well. Tony has found some for and he tells us about them, even if we may never get a chance to settle in a seat with our Playbill and get ready for a standing ovation.

If you were trapped in the 1980s, where would you go to hang out? Todd Liebenow knows and he will tell you who else is hanging out at the mall. Jackie Chan and the Dead who show up at Dawn are excluded for reasons he will explain, but you will still be able to get a Pretzel from Auntie Ems, or some black light posters at Spenser’s if you follow his advice.

Finally, Richard has been burned by some ticket scalper who sold him counterfeits to his highly anticipated concert tours.  What do you mean these bands aren’t real? Are you sure? Because he thinks they are awesome and still wants to own the record and score some seats.
