Halloween season brings out the ghoul in most of us. We look for a scare or two, something that excites us or thrills us, but often we don’t look part the end of our own nose. Well that’s not happening this year. The LAMB is committed to films from all eras and even though we don’t yet have a “Silent Film of the Month”, that doesn’t mean there should not be one. For now, you are going to have to make due with a draft of films that were made before most of the LAMBs were born.
Five Lambs Join the show and dive into films ranging from 1922 to 1972. This was the first fifty years of Studio dominated film production and there were a lot of horror films to choose from. The Fasmous Universal Monsters are well represented, but Aaron Neuwirth, Dave Anderson, Todd Liebenow, Howard Casner and David Brook were not going to be limited in their vistas. There are foreign language films, silent films, giant bus, science fiction and mad scientists galore represented on the lists.
You can start planning your Halloween viewing with some of the great films this group has uncovered for you. When you get to the end of the podcast, you can also come back to the LAMB and vote for the slate of films that you liked the best. We hope you enjoy the shrieks in the night when Howard has his next choice snatched from him, or the chill that goes down your spine when Aaron and his pet tarantula show off. Todd goes deep and off the beaten path, David Brook seems to have reviewed the Blu-ray of almost everything on the show in the last month, and Dave Anderson explains why he isn’t divorcing his wife immediately.
Look, we all go a little mad sometimes. Come find out what drives us crazy and will make you a bit insane, or at least a little frightened.
