The world is full of movie remakes, rip-offs and reboots, but that does not automatically render them worthless. In fact, there are a number of films inspired by an earlier movie that surpass the original and are more memorable.
This week, Aaron Neuwirth from “Two Black Guys Talk about Godzilla” takes over the hosting duties of a new specialty format, “Refreshing Remakes”. A bunch of movie bros find some examples of remakes that are worth your while. Sometimes better technology is not the key, but better actors and script are. Dave Anderson from the “Free Kittens Movie Guide” defends an unusual choice but also selects some acknowledged winners.

Matthew Simpson of “Northern Reel” does his best to fake us out with films that no one will remember are based on an earlier version. That includes some classics and a film based on a TV movie that will make you want to seek out the obscure original. The “Direct to Video Connoisseur”, Matthew Poirier, digs out a couple of near direct to video films to add to his selection of two better known films.
Everyone takes a shot at some bad movies along the way, and the Russo Brothers get beat up for some of the work they have done, just because they were standing there. Come see what other trails the guests follow this week as well as their suggestions for films that should be remade.
