Next year will be the 50th anniversary of “Star Wars” and the Lambcast is planning a big show for that event, but we don’t want the other films of that year to be overlooked so we get in the “Wayback” machine this week and journey to the cinema year of 1977.

There are people on the show this week, who are trying to give you the best films of 1977, others are simply picking out their favorites or looking for the obscure film that you might want to check out. Let’s face it, there is also a lot of nostalgia indulging as well, given that a few of the participants actually lived through the era.

Don’t be surprised by some of the choices, there are obvious films that belong in the discussion, but you should be surprised by some titles, which are not anything you have heard of before. We have several Science Fiction films that are off the beaten path and some comedies that may be forgotten but you will want to remember.

Disaster awaits some of you, and laughter awaits the rest of the listeners. The special effects of 1977 changed with Star Wars, but the films we talk about will not have any of the Industrial Light Magic. Old school effects are present in many of our choices, and sometimes they work and other times…not so much. You are guaranteed to be intrigued by at least one movie on the show, although you may in fact find twenty that you can’t wait to catch up on.
