We Have the Right Job For You!

No, this isn’t some spam email.

Maybe it’s just the summer doldrums (hopefully coming to an end soon – thanks a lot, Nic Cage!), but I feel like the LAMB could use a little “pick me up.” Due to a number of reasons (a busy Nick, an AWOL Big Mike, a busy Fletch), we’ve had some features go stagnant and/or never really get started, such as Interview With a LAMBpire, the next “battle” event...

PSA: An image you don’t want to see

It’s a sad thing to think about, but every now and then, a LAMB dies.

Of course, I’m referring to a site being shut down – not an actual person or lamb leaving us. With the help of the LAMB’s art director (Mrs. Fletch) and the notices of a few new fallen homies from soon-to-be LAMB Jose (http://worldsbestfilms.blogspot.com/), I’ve updated the profile pages for our dead LAMBs with the following...

    Important Announcement
From Jed Medina, owner of LAMB #22, the Movie Fanatic (and hosting site for the LAMB Forums):

“Just in case, the main tMF site has been hacked! I visited the LAMB forum and it still works, I have no idea if there will be problems in the coming hours…but just to keep you updated.

The host is doing all it can to resolve the problem, and I’ve been assured it will be OK within the day. Please kindly inform all LAMB...

  • Horror film bloggers, I’m calling you out!

Horror film bloggers, I’m calling you out!

There is one week left to vote for your Top 10 Horror films in our continuing top 10 by genre countdowns. There are currently 27 votes. However, I’m fairly certain that the LAMB has at least 27 dedicated horror blogs alone (not to mention those others that also included horror as one of their site categories), and but a small fraction have voted so far. For starters, thanks go out to Taliesin Meets the Vampires and the guys from Evil on...

Get 1,000 hits a day for only $19.95! (some restrictions may apply)

I was asked by a LAMB recently ways to get more involved with the site and/or get more traffic from the LAMB. Here were my suggestions, just in case anyone else is wondering:

    * Send in Chops (for your own site or others)
    * Participate in ‘battle’ events like Sirens or LAMB Action Hero
    * Submit a Random LAMB Banner (200 x 90) to get more visual exposure
    * Refer traffic to the LAMB and get onto the LAMB...

    New look LAMB!

Love it? Hate it? Having problems? Generally don’t care? Tell me about it here, if that’s how you get your kicks. A new header pic to come soon…

ETA: Thanks to Rebecca from No Smoking in the Skull Cave for the final bit of inspiration (and links) I needed to finally do this. I expect I’ll do the same over at BC.…

    Polls
I can’t believe eight of you fell for the trick question in the last poll, selecting the option “You guys are lame.” Via ISP tracking and some other technology that I don’t have, I’ve determined who the eight of you were and will be asking you to step into my office shortly. How dare you.

Anyway, thanks to all for answering. To those of you that are/were too busy, it’s time to...

  • New poll…and some other stuff

    New poll…and some other stuff

The results from the last poll are in, though they’re largely inconclusive. The question was “What is your preferred movie news site?” It finished a tie between IMDb and Other, each with 13 votes. Coming in third was Cinematical with 4 votes. 40 votes were cast overall.

The new poll is up, and centers on traffic to your site.

Also, I wanted to give a push to anyone that may be interested in one of our two new...

    LAMB Report #5

It’s been awhile. Let’s take a look at the LAMB for a status update…

    LAMB Membership
Some sad news to report, as the LAMB saw a drop off from April’s record high of 24 entries back down to a March-matching total of 18. How to get that back up? Looks like it’s networking time…

    LAMBScores
After much debate about how to do this best, I decided to...

    Summer of LAMB scoring system

Just a quick note to let those playing in the Summer of LAMB know that the scoring system has been determined.

    * One point will be awarded for correctly identifying a movie that finishes in the top 10.

    * An additional point will be awarded for placing a film in the correct position within the top 10 (i.e. if you picked Indiana Jones to finish first and it does, you would now have two total points).

    * An...

    Who are LAMB?

A couple times over the last few months, I’ve asked the LAMBs to take part in a little quiz I set up to gauge the demographics of the site authors that have joined. Participation ran pretty high, with 60 sites answering (out of a possible 95 or so).

Not surprisingly, the profile of your average LAMB author matches that of the usual stereotypical computer geek: a straight, single white American male between the ages of 26-35....

    100!

I say it a lot, but once more couldn’t hurt – thanks to all of you for buying into the idea of this here little site. I think we’re making it stronger and better all the time, and it’s just barely six months old. Keep it up, and to those lurkers with movie blogs who haven’t joined yet, what are you waiting for?…
