The poll results are in – thank you to the 80 voters (tying the record high) who took part. The next MOTM will be Bande à parte. Here’s what needs to go down from here:
* The first thing you need to know is that September 24th is the big day.
* You have four weeks to watch the flick (if you haven’t already) and to write up something, then send me the link (dylan at manilovefilms.com) to either what you write or something previously written. If you’re planning on doing the former, please hold the post in draft until the 20th (you can send a link prior if you have the capability to do so).
* On September 17th, we’ll be recording our MOTM-themed episode of the LAMBcast, where we’ll dissect and discuss Bande à parte. If you’d like to get in on it – well, this time around the show is already booked full, so perhaps next month. Keep an eye out at the LAMB Forums to for the future shows schedule.
* On the 24th, the LAMBcast will be posted, as well as all of the links to anything written. In addition, I’ll include a poll to decide what the next MOTM flick will be. If you have suggestions, leave them in the comments here (I typically drop off the films that receive the lowest percentage of votes). That poll will run for a week, and then there’ll be 3-4 weeks until the next event, and so on.
Here are the final results of the poll:
* Bande à parte, Swimming with Sharks, and The Hunt for Red October will be removed from the next poll, leaving three spots open for new suggestions.
Nice campaigning Tyler!
Here are two suggestions: Copycat and Parenthood.
Suggestions: Coming to America, The White Ribbon, The Great Escape.
PLS not White Ribbon Its such an overrated Haneke movie I was a huge fan of his until he made the pianist. Every film of his after that one has been a disappointment.
I agree on The Great Escape though!
How about Amelie, if it hasn’t already been done?
(I liked The White Ribbon…)
Sweet. Cool to see older stuff get MotM.
All the films listed are on Netflix Instant. Grant it, I’ve seen none of those – this is what I thought would sound interesting and make for good discussion:
Army of Shadows
The Last Emperor
Bronson
The Thin Red Line
Alphaville
The Red Shoes
Blue Velvet
The Right Stuff
Double Indemnity
Patton
The Killing
High Noon
All About Eve
This Is Spinal Tap
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Sting
Lethal Weapon
Dog Day Afternoon
Memento
The Hustler
Gosford Park
Dog Day Afternoon is already on the poll.
Great list though.
Nice!
I was planning on doing a Godard theme after I was finished with my festival coverage anyway, so this is perrrfect!
Spinal Tap has been done, I think. I’m not too keen on watching The Red Shoes again if I don’t have to.
