Attention “classic movie fans” are you a fan and / or admirer of John Garfield? I have written an online petition to get his films put into a box set. He was a very talented actor, forerunner to Brando, Dean and DeNiro and he deserves to be better remembered. I believe a box set would help increase his “star recognition.” Please add your name? Thank you very much, Lori Moore.
Here is the link to my petition:

Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, don’t get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details (what, when, where, and a link, for starters) – I’ll handle the rest.

  1. Lori,

The people you really need to bring your request to are the folks at The Warner Archive (since it seems much of Garfield’s works was at Warners). These are the guys who restore and release all sorts of forgotten titles from Warner Brothers and MGM through the studio’s video on demand service. They are very active in social media (Twitter:@warnerarchive) and often answer fans questions about plans for upcoming releases.

On their weekly podcast, they often field these sorts of questions. But here’s the thing, in the retro spirit of the products they deliver…they only take letters/questions for their podcast by way of snail mail. They especially love it when you write your message on stationary and in crayon.

The Warner Archive releases several new titles every week. Who knows they may already have something in the works.

  2. Thank you Forgotten Films for your response. I have checked with Warners Archive as did his daughter. For awhile we thought maybe it would happen, but plans fell through. They had plans in 2010 also and obviously those plans fell through. I am going to send my complete petition to the head of home video at Warners and TCM. Warners does have most of his films on DVD, but no box set of his films and that is what we his fans want. Thank you again for your interest and suggestions.
