I don’t want to say that MOTM poll winner Justin (of Man, I Love Films) did anything improper to not only win the poll but destroy the competition (especially since he’s a friend of mine and writes for my site), but let’s just say that the reaction to his choice of film and the amount of reactions from LAMB members didn’t exactly substantiate the pick. And yet, it’s not as though we on the LAMBcast came up short of things to discuss about the 2003 thriller. It just…well, it made for another interesting MOTM, and that’s about all I can say about that.
Before we get to the links, here’s the IMDb summary for the film, for those that aren’t familiar with it:
“Stranded at a desolate Nevada motel during a nasty rainstorm, ten strangers become acquainted with each other when they realize that they’re being killed off one by one.”
Now, let’s see what your fellow LAMBs had to say about it. Thanks to all of the LAMBs that sent in their posts for this edition of the MOTM. Well, all ONE of them! (This is a first…)
It’s also time to vote on next month’s movie. Once again, I put out the call for MOTM Champions. (See below) The gist is this: I ask for volunteers – people to select a film to be placed on the poll (up to 5 per month, as usual), then promote it on their site, Facebook, Twitter, whatever. Should their film win, they are guaranteed a spot on the LAMBcast episode where we will discuss said film. As a bonus (?), they will also get to host that segment of the show.
This month, we are doing something special. Jason Soto of Your Face! and Nick Powell of The Cinematic Katzenjammer have each submitted the films you see in this month’s poll several times, and each have (obviously) never won with said films. So, we decided to do a special Loser Goes Home matchup – one of them will win and be the next Champion; the losing film will not be eligible to be in an MOTM poll again. Exciting! They have one week to vote (and promote their movies!). I’ll be putting out the call for the next MOTM in a few weeks, so stay tuned.
As we do every month, the LAMBcast is tied in with the MOTM. This time around, as mentioned, Justin hosted a spirited MOTM segment, and was joined by Kristen, Jay, Courtney, and Dylan.
Also on tap:
* Rants and Raves of the Week
* Last LAMB Standing
A couple notes:
* The show can be found, of course, via iTunes – just do a search for “LAMBcast.” Also, I always post a link to the show on the LAMBcast’s Facebook page, and there’s a player there if you’d like to listen online.
* Shows will eventually make their way to the LAMBcast Archives. If you’d ever like to catch up on back episodes, go there.
If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster – we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. Opening song by Cake. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too – if you’d like yours read on a future show, leave it in the comments section at the LAMB. Please visit and like our Facebook page, and finally, we’re on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it’s a bad one.
Thanks for listening!
I think there should be an extra poll choice listed as “other” and if “other” gets the most votes then they both have to give up!
Ha! Ouch, that’s cold!
Princess Bride baby! Primer gave me a headache, I could never watch it again let alone review it.
Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t meant it shouldn’t be discussed. In fact, just because you didn’t understand it SHOULD be reason enough for it to be picked.

I agree Jason. Whilst I prefer Princess Bride as a film (no offense), it would be more interesting and probably entertaining for us all to dissect and ponder over Primer rather than just heap praise on Bride for an hour. Unless of course by some miracle there’s someone on the roster who doesn’t love Bride. Which would just be silly. Anyway, I’m voting Primer, if only because on a second viewing it might make slightly more sense.
I loved Primer and remember being blown away by it. Upstream Color looks very interesting as well. But I gotta go with Princess Bride.
Also, I was the only person to write anything on Identity??? WTF? I’m sad that my measly review is the only thing for folks to read.
“Upstream Color?” Huh? I missed something.
Yes, you were. Not sure what was up there. I blame myself for not promoting it enough. Thanks for submitting, though! Would have looked like crap without ya.
Upstream Color is Shane Carruth’s (Primer director) upcoming flick. Looks bonkers. http://youtu.be/rdYO3KWmcv8
My comment about Identity probably came out rude – I think me as the only participant is funny more than anything – I think you promoted it just fine. I’m hungover today (St. Paddy’s Day…ugh).
Looking forward to the next MOTM!
Ahh – somehow, I missed out on the name of that flick. Weird title. Anyway, I’ll be there for it. Primer’s the shit.
