It’s time to announce the winner of August’s Movie of the Month poll! The theme for August once again was films not primarily in the English language, to try and make the MOTM winners a little more international. Of course, these films can be submitted throughout the rest of the year as well. We had a variety of films submitted from a variety of countries, you’ve been voting and there’s one winner, so for August we’ll be covering the first MOTM winner from Studio Ghibli… Princess Mononoke!

Congratulations go to Tony Cogan of Coogs Review for successfully championing Princess Mononoke to victory, and as such he gets to host the upcoming Lambcast dedicated to it. Here’s the voting breakdown for the poll:

If you would like to submit a film for a future MOTM poll, get in touch! Tony Cogan, Lisa Leaheey, Howard Casner, Ashley Ullom-Jirak, Heather Baxendale-Walsh, Emily Slade, Richard Kirkham and David Brook are now ineligible to champion films for the rest of 2022.

  1. Congrats to Aaron at The Code is Zeek! I have yet to watch Princess Mononoke. Looks like it will be good. Being referred to as the “the Star Wars of animation,” this must be quite the fantastic journey.

    1. Oh man holy sugar. Hats off to Tony over at Coogs Review!
♀️ Also my bad for the mixup on these films from the poll. Looking forward to learning what you love most about about Princess Mononoke!
